Highly flexible and reusable finite element simulations with ViennaX

چکیده
An approach for increasing the flexibility and reusability of finite element applications for scientific computing is investigated by utilizing the ViennaX framework. Implementations are decoupled into components, allowing for extensible application setups as well as convenient changes in the simulation flow. The feasibility of our approach is shown by decoupling finite element implementations, provided by the ViennaFEM and the deal.II library, respectively. A ViennaFEM elasticity problem is highly decoupled into separate components, whereas an adaptivemesh refinement example provided by the deal.II library is used to show ViennaX’s support for execution loops. Finally, we underline the high level of flexibility and reusability by outlining the transformation from the depicted applications into a finite volume-based solution of the Poisson equation. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. Maximum Allowable Dynamic Load of Flexible 2-Link Mobile Manipulators Using Finite Element Approach
In this paper a general formulation for finding the maximum allowable dynamic load (MADL) of flexible link mobile manipulators is presented. The main constraints used for the algorithm presented are the actuator torque capacity and the limited error bound for the end-effector during motion on the given trajectory. The precision constraint is taken into account with two boundary lines in plane w...
متن کاملFinite Element Instability Analysis of the Steel Joist of Continuous Composite Beams with Flexible Shear Connectors
Composite steel/concrete beams may buckle in hogging bending regions. As the top flange of I-beam in that arrangement is restricted from any translational deformation and twist, the web will distort during buckling presenting a phenomenon often described as restricted distortional buckling. There are limited studies available in the literature of restricted distortional buckling of composite st...
متن کاملDynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Flexible Manipulators Using Finite Element Method and Pontryagin’s Minimum Principle
In this paper, finding Dynamic Load Carrying Capacity (DLCC) of flexible link manipulators in point to-point motion was formulated as an optimal control problem. The finite element method was employed for modelling and deriving the dynamic equations of the system. The study employed indirect solution of optimal control for system motion planning. Due to offline nature of the method, many diffic...
متن کاملElasto-Plastic Finite Element Evaluation of Flexible Pavements Based on Shakedown Concept
In this paper, three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element analysis was performed on flexible pavements under vertical repeated traffic loads to evaluate their shakedown behavior. Six different pavements with different structural number (SN) were modeled and subjected to a wide range of cyclic vehicle loads. Shakedown limits were obtained considering both failure and serviceability restrain...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Finite Element Methodology for Flexible Track Models in Railway Dynamics Applications
The dynamic analysis of railway vehicles involves the construction of three independent models: the vehicle model; the track model; and the wheel-rail contact model. In this work, a multibody formulation with Cartesian coordinates is used to describe the kinematic structure of the rigid bodies and joints that constitute the vehicle model. A methodology is also proposed in order to create detail...
